Visit a Baby Bison and Other Animals at the Cape May County Zoo
A female bison was born at the Cape May County Zoo on August 18th, 2022. Make a trip to visit this sweet girl plus several other animals taking refuge at the zoo. Bring your binoculars. The baby likes to hang out away from crowds. Nearby, you’ll find her father, Hank, and Mother, Beverly, standing guard.
Wine Tastings at Local Wineries
Cape May is not only a culinary capital in New Jersey, it’s a wine capital as well. Here, you’ll find several local wineries producing top-notch vintages. Enjoy a day touring each vineyard and, of course, sampling wine. Some even serve lunch and dinner.
Visit one of four Cape May wineries, open year-round:
- Cape May Winery
- Willow Creek Winery
- Natali Vineyards
- Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery
Birdwatch
Most are surprised to learn that Cape May is a premier birdwatching destination. Yes, our quaint seaside town, with award-winning beaches and a robust Victorian heritage, is also a mecca for migrating birds and people who love to watch them. October is ideal for birding in Cape May. Plus, this year, those interested in spotting raptors are in for a special treat. Visit the “Hawk Watch Platform” at Cape May Lighthouse for an exclusive peek at migrating birds of prey and their families.
Curl up with A Good Book
With the cooler weather and slower pace, we think it’s the perfect time to snuggle up with a warm cup of tea and a good book – on a porch swing perhaps, or in front of a roaring fire. You can even borrow The Queen Victoria beach chair and find a lovely place to sit outside – onsite or off. Snuggle up in a sweatshirt and blanket on the beach or cozy up by the fire. Either way, be sure to enjoy your well-deserved “me” time.
