For the Younger Crowd
Plan a Trip to Cape May
Cape May has been attracting travelers for generations to its seaside resort shores, but we love welcoming new generations of travelers and couples seeking a one of a kind vacation.
Though our city upholds its Victorian architecture and delights at bringing its past to life, there is plenty to see and do during a visit to Cape May for travelers between the ages of 25 and 35!
Find Cape May activities and festivals that are wowing the Millennial generation.
Activities
A great reason to visit Cape May is for our beautiful beaches and we completely understand the desire to hang out on the beach all day. Though, if you want to add some activities to your Cape May itinerary, we’ve compiled a list of adventurous experiences to try:
Biking: With bike rental companies dropping rentals off at your bed and breakfast, you can start your morning with a ride along the scenic promenade. Bikes are not allowed on the promenade after 10 a.m. unfortunately, but there are some fun biking trails around the beach and in the city to help acquaint yourself with your surroundings.
Carriage Rides: This list wouldn’t be complete without adding the romantic activity of taking a ride through Cape May on a horse and carriage ride.
Ghost Tours: You may find yourself a third wheel in Cape May when you learn about our ghosts and haunted Victorian mansions! Take a spooky look at our city’s past on a ghost tour. These tours are done by trolley so you won’t run off in fright.
Movies at the beach: If your trip is over a Thursday evening, be sure to plan for the summer Movies at the Beach! Starting in July and running through August, you can catch popular and classic films for free on the beach.
Parasailing: Through East Coast Parasail you and your travel companion can view Cape May from 500 feet above the Atlantic Ocean! If a high-flying adventure isn’t your style, the same company offers jet boat tours as well with 360 degree spins on a 45 minute ride as well as Jet Ski and wave runner rentals.
Sunset Cruises: There’s nothing more romantic than watching the sunset over the ocean but the Spirit of Cape May is trying to beat it with its Wine Tasting Cruises that set sail to catch the sunset. Enjoy three wines from New Jersey wineries, two lighthouses, and a gorgeous sunset.
SUP & Surf: Get a workout in while having fun on the water when you take a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) lesson or tour! Steger Beach Services offers SUP and surfing lessons here in Cape May and is fun for all ages.
Wineries: Cape May is home to four fantastic wineries and is a popular attraction among our visitors and locals alike!
Yoga on the Beach: You might find some runners along the promenade or on the beach in the morning, but if you want a more structured fitness program, Cape May offers yoga on the beach as well as indoor Zumba classes.
Restaurants
New Jersey is known for its dining, but Cape May takes it a step further with world-class restaurants and delicious food. In fact, the New York Times has labeled Cape May as the culinary capital of New Jersey!
For the best of Cape May’s dining, we highly recommend visiting during Cape May Restaurant Week where you’ll find prix fixe menus consisting of two courses for lunch or three courses for dinner. Prices start at $15 for lunch and then there’s a $25 or $35 dinner option. Cape May Restaurant Week is generally the last week of May and extends into June.
If you’re visiting outside of restaurant week, you won’t be disappointed by the quality of the food or service of our local establishments. Whether you want an elegant dinner for a romantic evening or a comfortable tavern experience, you’ll find it here. There are many restaurants here that are Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) and with a plethora of nearby wineries or a trip to Collier’s Liquor Store http://www.colliersliquor.com/, you’ll be able to complement your meal with a beverage of your choice. We do recommend picking up a bottle or brew of something local to round out your Cape May dining experience.
Festivals
Craft Beer & Crab Festival: In August, plan a trip for the Cape May Craft Beer & Crab Festival. Hosted at the Emlen Physick Estate, this festival celebrates our craft brewers with a beer garden and a delicious array of crab and other summer favorites. Enjoy live music, food and craft vendors, and an old-fashioned Victorian Circus!
Exit 0 Jazz Festival: Not just for jazz lovers, the Exit 0 International Jazz Festival has brought together musicians from a variety of styles that includes Blues, R&B, Soul, and more. This event is bi-annual, with an event in May and November.
Food & Wine Festival: For almost 20 years, visitors have come out for the Cape May Food & Wine Celebration to delight in fine wine and dining. In September, this event lasts just over a week and includes wine tastings, brew fest, a champagne jazz brunch, the chocolate lover’s feast, grape picking at Natali Vineyards, and more.
Holidays
For the holidays, you may be tempted to bring the whole family to Cape May! Christmas in Cape May is a delightful sight to be seen, with the houses decorated in lights and a festive atmosphere takes over the city. Here at The Queen Victoria, we even put up three Christmas trees!
Cape May also goes big for Halloween with plenty of thrilling and chilling events around the city. From the Harvest Festival, to psychics at the Physick Estate, or even trick or treating, you’ll find something to keep the Halloween spirits up.
If you’re searching for a timeless vacation destination, Cape May may just be the answer.
